From its base in central London, the free to air channel is available via satellite or the internet and is broadcast to over 132 countries, making it one of the most influential Islamic satellite channels in both Europe and the world. Launched in 2004 by Tunisian national Mohammed Ali Harrath, the channel states that its aims are to ‘(convey) Islam in its true form to curious non-Muslims and further educate Muslims alike’ this is achieved through a combination of religious, political and historical programming that covers an array of topics.
through web presence and develop a platform where common Muslim can find content about the religion in a convenient way.
The essential first step Pre-design work sets the stage for effective websites. During our pre-design stage with Islam Channel we:
Got deep understanding about the company’s services, values, target customers, and vision was gained
Thoroughly reviewed their available assets (literature, photography, promotional materials, etc.)
Began to consider the new site’s architecture/structure.
Wireframes allow clients to understand the relative importance and placement of the different pieces and parts that will make up individual web pages.
Skeleton page layouts compare the Islam channel approved homepage wireframe to the final approved homepage design.
Think of it like the fancy clothing “skin” that sit over the naked wireframe skeletons. If you’ve done your upfront planning well, the mood board should always delight, never unpleasantly surprise, the client.
Our design documents are four to eight-page reports that serve as design-direction agreements between us and our clients. They discuss details such as color palettes, textures, requirements and photography. Design documents are a mixture of the following four key elements:
After collecting additional information, we developed a document which detailed:
Some designers prefer to start working on the design of any page that’s not the home page first.
We prefer to start designing the homepage first as it typically makes the most sense to clients and sets the tone for the rest of the site.
Putting it all together upon completing and receiving approval from Islam channel for the homepage design, we designed 2 other pages within the site for approval before moving forward.
The thorough pre-planning we completed upfront with Channel ensured everyone was on the same page every step of the way.
The development stage included coding and integration of Content Management System (CMS) that allows Islam channel to manage site updates in-house.Moving forward after design Remember: Effective, goal-oriented design takes planning, teamwork, extensive communications, and a clear process.
